Shipping Information

When it comes to shipping furniture or anything else, there is always shipping fee involved. Whether the customer pays or the dealer it has to be paid to transport one way or another. To appreciate your business, for larger online orders we offer Free shipping for local GTA areas. This is purely an expanse we incur to value our customers business.

Some well-known online retailers are way unfair and hide shipping fees in prices and then claim it as “Free shipping” .  At Berkshire Furniture we truly give you Free shipping to local area out of our pocket. We do not add this fee to orders which qualify for free shipping and that is why we can only do so for certain volume orders and only for GTA (Greater Toronto Area) deliveries.

For other areas and long distance addresses, we try to get you the most affordable shipping fee to bring your order to you. We also make sure that we include the insurance for the furniture just in case something unexpected happen to your furniture.

Having said that, here below are Three ways to get your order delivered.

  • Pick up
  • Curbside Drop Off
  • White Glove Shipping

1- Pick up:

Your order can be picked up either from our Mississauga store or from one of our suppliers warehouses 7 days a week, during business hours.

For out of Ontario pickups we send your order to a Transport Station (Depot), and you can  pick up your order from that transport. Long Distance pickups are not free, it will cost a fee.

 

2- Curbside Drop Off Shipping (Standard Shipping):

Curbside Shipping means your order will be delivered to your Curbside or to closest point where a truck can safely park. Depending on the volume or load, for this service please have enough man power available to unload your order off the truck. Due to insurance restrictions transport drivers are not responsible to carry your furniture beyond the tail of their truck. Some maybe more helpful.

Out of GTA (Greater Toronto Area) destinations are either pickup or curbside shipping. White Glove shipping service may not always be available for out of GTA. If you want white glove delivery service for outside GTA please ask one of our Sales associates to check if possible prior to your purchase.

 

We currently do not have delivery services available to the following areas:

  • American States of Alaska and Hawaii
  • American Domestic Island Destinations (Florida Keys, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, etc)
  • Canadian Nunavut, Yukon, Northwest Territories
  • Armed Forces Postal Addresses (APO’s)

3- White Glove Shipping:

White glove shipping service is offered to GTA (Greater Toronto Area) residence.  White Glove Service means your order will be delivered to inside your home, unpacked and placed inside the room of your choice*. For this service if no elevator available we include two flights of stairs. If there are more stairs, on the actual shipping rate, we will add $30.00 for each additional flight of stairs.

* With white glove service, customers must ensure safe and clear entry ways for our drivers. Customers are responsible to measure door ways, entryways, staircases and make sure the item will have enough clearance to fit through. Any item(s) not fitting as a result of tight spaces will not be returned and will be left at main floor.

Out of GTA shipping & CANADA wide shipping service:

For destination surrounding GTA from Niagara Falls to Ottawa & All Canadian major destinations, we offer Curbside shipping.  The shipping fee varies depending on destination, how many items and the type of service. When you go through check out steps you will know how much it will cost to ship Standard. USA Shipping:

We do ship to US and it is all done by standard shipping. We have no means of white glove shipping to US states. The only way White Glove would be possible is for us to arrange a Delivery Company within your area, have the transport company deliver the furniture to a storage facility, then their guys would come and install in your home. Keep in mind this would mean two separate shipping charges, 1 for the Transport company bringing the furniture, and the other for the delivery company to install it in your home. Please call our store and speak with a Sales Person to get more information.

Our Shipping Policy

Once your order is shipped, we will e-mail you the tracking number so you can track your shipment online or via telephone. If you did not get an email, please do not hesitate to call or email us to get your tracking number. Please understand that transport times are estimated and cannot be guaranteed. Berkshire Furniture will attempt to ensure a prompt and safe delivery. However,  your items may arrive later than the estimated date and time due to geographic location, weather, seasonal demand, or supplier’s delays or simply transport issues. Its impossible to control the shipment once its on its way. We do have good communication with our transports and will do all we can to make smooth delivery for you.

If deliveries are via other transports services rather than our own truck then they are normally scheduled Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Special delivery arrangements may include evening, weekend, rush or delayed delivery. Please contact us prior to your order shipping to review any of the above requests. Depending on the request, additional fees may apply and you will be contacted for approval.  If your order shipped with a freight carrier, you will be contacted for an appointment by the freight carrier or delivery agent ahead of time so that you can plan your schedule accordingly.  If you miss a pre-scheduled delivery, a re-delivery fee may apply, sorry it’s not us, it is the transport policy.

Upon delivery, be sure to inspect the packages for damage before the driver leaves and verify the number of boxes delivered with the delivery receipt. Once you sign for the boxes, you are indicating you accept the furniture in good order and the delivery firm is clear of future claims, so be sure to open all boxes in front of driver and note all or if any damages on the receipt. Keep in mind that the packaging is there for protection, and if any boxes is damaged it is not necessary an indication of product inside of it being damaged also. But none the less on delivery please open all boxes and check them out. Any damages must be clearly noted on delivery receipt of driver and driver witness. Then we can file claim with transport.

 

Notes to remember:

1: –   Once you have received email or phone call or been issued a tracking number, the order is shipped and can no longer be cancelled or modified (Please see our Return/Exchange Policy). A processing fee may apply for any change of address requests after an order has shipped.

2: –   It is the customers’ responsibility to ensure the furniture will fit through hallways, doorways, or any such area.  Berkshire Furniture will not be held liable should your order not fit into your home, or should damages occur due to improper measuring.

3: –   For remote deliveries or unusual geographical locations, orders may need to be adjusted to include extra delivery fees. No additional fees will be charged without notifying the customer and obtaining prior approval.

–   All freight deliveries require that an adult be present to inspect and sign for the shipment.  Under no circumstances can the items be left outside of the house or apartment unattended.
